Scholars interested in historic American visual culture at AAS visual are encouraged to apply to the fellowship program. There are several short-term fellowships available to scholars whose research relies on graphic arts and visual culture materials:

Additional Fellowship Opportunities
- Fellowships for Creative and Performing Artists and Writers. Creative artists wishing to use historical materials as a source for their art should apply to the competition for Creative and Performing Artists and Writers.
- Individuals wishing to conduct research in visual culture may be eligible for the long-term research fellowships, including the National Endowment for the Humanities long-term fellowships and the twelve-month Hench postdoctoral fellowship.
