The article presents a report issued by the American Antiquarian Society (AAS) Council. The author notes the deaths of AAS members Henry Winchester Cunningham, Edward Channing, Allen Johnson and William Coolidge Lane as well as foreign AAS members Alfred Percival Maudslay and Adam Shortt. The society received funds and portraits from Cunningham's estate through a bequest. AAS librarian Robert W.G. Vail has made numerous acquisitions, including the broadside "The Present State of the New-English Affairs," which is regarded as an early attempt at creating a colonial newspaper.
