Report of the Director.

The article presents the annual report of the chief librarian of the American Antiquarian Society, discussing the condition and developments of the association's collections and archives as of October 1940. An overview of accessions gained by the society during the year, including a complete list of books, pamphlets, prints, and newspapers acquired is given. Comments are given discussing the acquisition and conservation policies being pursued by the society. Mention is also given to individual antiquities gained such as portraits of historical figures and society members.
