John Henry Bufford.

John Henry Bufford was a successful lithograph artist, a major printer and publisher of prints, and a teacher of notable American artists (including Winslow Homer). Only one other person, Nathaniel Currier, had a longer association with lithography. After the Civil War, with the introduction of new processes of pictorial reproduction, Bufford and other lithographers struggled to survive. Unlike Currier and Ives, Bufford was unable to create lasting myths through his prints.
