David Tatham died August 1, 2023. Professor emeritus of art history at Syracuse University, Tatham was a leading art historian of nineteenth- and twentieth-century America, and an authority on the work of Winslow Homer. His nearly seven-decade association with Syracuse began in the university’s student affairs division in 1957. During his career Tatham wrote seven books and published more than ninety scholarly articles, exhibition catalog essays, and journal reviews. Among many research grants, Tatham received a Fred Harris Daniels Fellowship in 1974-75. He served on the AAS Council from 1983 to 1992.
