Winslow Homer and the New England Poets.

Surveys Winslow Homer's career as a book illustrator. He made drawings for 30 books, but stopped after he was established as a major American painter. Homer also contributed hundreds of other drawings to periodicals. His illustrations for reissues of poems, the least known of all his art, are superbly executed and show his deft hand and poetic insight. Covers 1857-86. Primary sources; 26 illus., 35 notes.
