Frederick Doveton Nichols.

Obituary for Frederick Doveton Nichols (1911-95), an advocate of historic preservation and a key figure in the rescue of many historic buildings. A Regional Director of the Historic American Buildings Survey in the 1930's, Nichols taught art and architecture at the University of Virginia after World War II. While at Virginia, he wrote on various architectural history subjects and was involved in several national preservation committees.
